The author of the performance devoted several years to reading the books from the series and watched the films demonstrated in the programme “Videokaukas”. He drew the inspiration for the script from more than a hundred books read and films watched.   \u003c\/p\u003e\r\r\u003cp\u003eThe script of the \u003ci\u003eAudiokaukas\u003c\/i\u003e is a peculiar concentrate of fantasy literature in the form of a story combined using collage principle. It is an episode of several days and nights in the life of a young talented chef, Denisas. At the beginning, the protagonist’s everyday life is depicted in fragments, presenting his extrovert, hedonistic character (Denisas = Greek Dionysos). The defining moment in the story occurs when Denisas, cooking one of his dishes, suffers food poisoning caused by false morel (Lat. \u003ci\u003eGyromitra esculenta\u003c\/i\u003e). The recordings were made using a multi-channel tape recorder, a borrowed KORG synthesizer, saxophones, a prepared piano, a cello turned into a noisy bass, percussion, and bells. The composer used all the texts and the title for the cycle from the poetry collection Ramblings by Almis Grybauskas. It then underwent a kind of renaissance: versions were created for different ensembles, including the Czech avant-garde rock orchestra Agon and the London piano sextet pianocircus. After Čiurlionis, he was probably the only one to leave a huge and valuable legacy of piano and symphonic music, and he was himself an excellent concert pianist.\u003cbr\u003e© Šarūnas Nakas\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eI came to know the music of Vytautas Bacevičius by chance. I was attracted not only by the fact that his music was related to the tendencies of 20th-century mysticism that interested me, but also by the uniqueness of this music both in the context of interwar Lithuania and in comparison with the trends of Lithuanian music in the Soviet era. While studying in Lithuania, I also got to know the winding path of his life (emigration, etc.) and his peculiar personality. His musical worldview, which is revealed in his letters, was close to mine. It is an invisible sonority that lies within the acoustic horizon. Listening to it creates a very interesting sensation – the perception of sound as a mass, as a trace element hovering like air. It has its own logic, but at the same time it is constantly changing. This score works in the same way – it has a clear structure of who does what and when, yet \u003cem\u003ehow \u003c\/em\u003ethey do it is always a little bit different.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe words ‘I see what I can't hear’ came about before I even thought of the piece itself, while I was recording a windy, howling morning city on the hill of Bekešas. At one point I stiffened, looking at a few yellowish, flabby, winter-surviving tufts of grass and agrostis. I realised that I could see how intensely they were moving in the wind, but I couldn't hear them. I have a similar sensation when I watch the slow flow of a river. Even on a quiet morning or evening – a huge amount of water just rushes by without a sound.
