A new digital sheet music collection featuring piano pieces for children – "Diskoteka"
Music Information Centre Lithuania has released a new digital sheet music publication: a collection of pieces for young pianists titled “Diskoteka” by composer Veslav Sobieski. The digital sheet music is available for purchase here.
The new pieces were created after beginning teaching practice with young pianists at the Vievis Art School — they became the main source of inspiration. “Young students often become co-authors of the pieces — their reactions, discoveries, and even small surprises during lessons inspire new ideas,” says the author.
“Diskoteka” features 19 pieces tailored to the skill level of students in grades 1–8 at music and art schools. They are united by a universal piano teaching methodology and a creative blend of jazz and pop music elements with the clarity and structure characteristic of classical pedagogy. These pieces develop technical skills, foster musical thinking, and invite students to discover music-making as a joyful experience. It is important to the author that music be not only educational but also inspiring — close to the student, helping them feel like a creator rather than just a performer.
