In Five Pieces by Ugnė Giedraitytė - French Inspirations

The clarinet and French culture are the key to the work of composer Ugnė Giedraitytė. The titles and compositions of her five newly released works are a reflection of this. The digital sheet music of the pieces is available below:

'Quand' for clarinet, voice and piano
'Au-dessus' for voice, clarinet, viola and piano
'Soir' for voice and piano
'Satin' for clarinet, voice and piano
'Lévitation' for viola, clarinet and piano

Ugnė Giedraitytė's links with France are varied and not always entirely direct: she says that she has always felt an impulse to perform the work of French composers, that the composers' courses she attended in France gave birth to a number of creative ideas, and that the French language is like an extension of music for her. In addition to French motifs, Ugnė Giedraitytė has been accompanied since childhood by the timbre of the clarinet, which was constantly heard at home (her brother is a clarinet player), and thus evokes childhood memories.
