This new volume invites students to deepen their exploration of jazz from the very first lesson. With a focus on jazz rhythms, melodies, and forms, the pieces provide an immersive introduction to the genre’s essential elements.

Thoughtfully arranged to balance technical development with creative expression, the works encourage not only skill acquisition but also the freedom of improvisation—a key facet of jazz performance. Further enhancing the publication are the charming illustrations by Sigita Šimkūnaitė, adding a visual layer of inspiration to this delightful collection for young musicians.

After School II presents a superb opportunity for young pianists to develop an early appreciation and love for jazz, providing an engaging introduction to the genre’s rich musical landscape. Both the limited edition and digital versions of the sheet music are now available through our e-shop. Music Information Centre Lithuania is funded by the Lithuanian Council of Culture.

It is with great pleasure that I present this second set of pieces, which will continue to expand students' knowledge and horizons by exploring the rhythmics, melodics, form and texture inherent in jazz. It is important for future jazz performers to develop aural, stylistic and technical performance skills from the earliest days, which will help them to improvise freely in the future. In creating this collection, I took into account the need for a broader selection of jazz pieces, but I also thought about the students – let these pieces inspire them to explore and discover the unique charm of jazz. And I invite teachers to adapt these works not only for young soloists but also for ensembles.
