Vytautas Bacevičius’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 12, On Lithuanian Themes, is the first work of its genre in the history of Lithuanian music, composed in 1929. This piece stands out for its national character and modern sound, reflecting the avant-garde context of interwar Lithuanian music.

This concerto is not only a technical challenge for the performer, but also a profound emotional narrative in which Bacevičius intertwines Lithuanian folk melodies with elements of modern music. The work was performed multiple times by the composer himself, both in Lithuania and abroad, including in Paris, Prague, and Warsaw.
